Everything Reminds Me

Gray clouds line up over the horizon
Like soldiers marching off into battle
And thunder roars like applause from a willing
Audience of flag-waving chattel

Does everything remind me of a war I can not support?
Everything reminds me of a war I can not possibly support.

I wake up every morning and the first thing I see
Is Big Brother up there smiling at me
From a big mushroom cloud way up in the sky
Hell, I pay my taxes, and I ask myself why

Does everything remind me of a war I can not support?
Why does everything reminds me of a war I can not possibly support?

Is everything gonna be OK today
'Cause I don't know how much more I can possibly tolerate
I need to pretend everything is gonna be all right
'Cause I really need to get me some sleep tonight

But I'm afraid to be lulled into a false sense of security
I read it in the papers and I see it on TV
We need to brew a bitter cup of reality
And rudely awaken the sleeping majority

How do I say "No!" in a voice loud enough to be heard?
How do I keep my neighbors from hating my guts?
How do I hold my head up when being accused of being unpatriotic?
How do I not? How do I not?

So, let's peek behind the curtain and see who's really pulling the strings
"Cause right or left it's really all the same thing
They say money talks and bullshit walks
Hell, sometimes even elections get bought

How do I know who to trust and who to believe?
America, do I love it or just leave?
